Capture NX-D

Though created by Nikon to help the owners of Nikon cameras and lenses process RAW images, Capture NX-D can be used by anyone, for various other purposes as well.

Capture NX-D is an impressively powerful and feature-rich image processing tool that lets you edit, enhance, and correct photos in a multitude of ways.

Capture NX-D supports all Nikon DSLR cameras from the old D1 to the brand new D3400 released in August 2016, as well as all Nikon 1 cameras from V1 and J1 to J5, and some COOLPIX cameras. It can process not only NEF and NRW RAW image files, but also JPEG and TIFF raster images from any sources.

Among its numerous supported functions and features, the most remarkable are the adjustment options that let you easily fine-tune photos by altering parameters like brightness, hue, contrast, tone curves, white balance, and many other more. A selection of settings can be saved to a preset and later applied to other images, enabling convenient batch processing possibilities. The presets can even be transferred to other computers where Capture NX-D is installed. Furthermore, the set of alterations is stored separately from the original image data allowing the original photo to be restored at any time if needed. Last but not least, this tool offers handy conversion capabilities, allowing you to save the processed RAW photos to JPEG or TIFF formats for use in other applications.

As you can see, Capture NX-D is really powerful and comprehensive, and I haven't even mentioned yet other supported features like cropping, scratch removing, printing, rating, labeling, filtering, side-by-side comparing, etc. Since it's also completely free, I consider it a great tool to have by anyone in need to edit and process RAW images.
